Month 16

Dear Angus,

You turned 16 months old this month. Your little mind is growing so fast. You are so aware, alert and alive with curiosity.

You play, laugh, cry, hit, get angry, feel sad. You are one feisty little guy that does not stop for a second. Everything is an adventure for you.

If you see Jonas do or try something, well, there you are right behind him, getting ready to do the same. You climb on chairs, sit or stand at the table. You drink from a cup, a regular cup, not a sippy cup, and set it back on the table, like a big boy, which surprises many.

You use a fork or spoon when eating and throw it when done. You only give kisses if you feel like giving. I try to get one, but am turned down many times.

Today you let out a toot and you looked at me, I at you and we laughed together.
If you see a cookie or any snack and I offer you a piece, you throw it, because you don't just want a piece of it, you want the whole thing.

You throw yourself on the floor if you don't get your way and sometimes bang your head on the floor or wall, whatever is closest.

I can hand you something and ask you to throw it in the trash and you do. You walk over, open the lid and toss it in. ADORABLE!

"Mama" is THE word. Everything is "mama", even papa is "mama" these days or "ponbob". That is some influence your brother has on you. Every morning I hear you call for me in a sweet soft voice. There is nothing quite like it.

You make mess, after mess, after mess. It's all fine because I know you are learning about the world around you. But you know if you are doing something you are not supposed to, you walk away, with a pout in your lip. But you stop doing it. You listen.

What a difference a few months make, but I know this is the beginning. More mischief awaits and I am so ready for more.

Love,
Mom

Month 14

Dear Angus,

You are 14-months old this month.  Your personality shines through so much.  You are a goofy little boy who loves to explore.

You like to pick on your big brother.  If he's watching t.v., you walk up to it, press buttons or turn it off.  This makes Jonas so mad.  He has never before mentioned that he doesn't want you around, until now.  He said, "Put him back in your belly."  You like to bug him so.  You even make sure he is watching you do this, so that he can chase you, while you start running away, giggling.

You are so rough.  You climb, jump, crawl on anything.  You try to jump on beds, climb on tricycles. You get mad if someone takes the hose from you, because you love getting wet.

Oh, and the tantrums are here.
Oh, the tantrums, but the good thing is you get over them quickly. We distract you and then they are forgotten.

I love this age!

You even water the plants.  You've seen us do it so many times that I've watched you stand over the lantanas, hold the hose right over them and water them.  You then walk over to the next plant in front of you.

You dance every time you hear music, which then, makes all of us want to dance.  You love holding our phones, pressing the buttons and sticking them in your mouth.  Big NO-NO!

Jonas has a new nickname for you, Ve-ve, like Bebe, in spanish.

Some nights you sleep through the night, other nights are not so good.

I love it when you snuggle up close to me when someone else is trying to talk to you.  You get a little shy and rest your head on my chest.  My sweetie!

Oh, buddy boo, you are so cute.  I can't help but hug and kiss you every time you walk by me or while you are getting ready for nap time.  We get to cuddle after big bo goes to bed. That is our time together.

Love you,
Mom

Chub

I don't want this chubbiness to go away.  It is too sweet to look at.  I am pretty sure it will stick around for quite some time, because boy can he eat, and eat.
So, I am thankful for that.

bru-bru

Yesterday you woke up earlier than jonas and you and I were lying on "grandma's bed" when jonas walked in. I said, "good morning!" And you said, "bru-bru."

You almost said it-brother. Jonas had a big smile on his face. He was happy.

It was adorable!

Early one morning

Angy enjoys being outside more than anything. As soon as he hears the front door opening he starts walking toward it. Then he stands at the doorway and carefully steps down.
He walks all around the yard, picks up rocks, throws them, looks for and holds on to the hose, points at the ants, climbs on his tricycle.  This was his second time wearing shoes.  He stumbles a little, but he's good at walking in them.

A brothers love...

Angus,

Did you know that there is one person in this house who does not want you to ever cry. Not even for a second.

This person is your big brother.

As soon as you let out a whimper while in your crib, Jonas is in there instantly telling you it's okay. But you don't stop because you don't want brother's comfort, you want mine.  So, then I hear, "Mom, Angus needs you.  Hurry, he's crying for you."

He says, "Oh, what a cute little thing." I don't know where he heard it, but he says it when he sees you doing something sweet.

He even "fixes" your head for you. (Dad knows what I'm talking about.)

You are one lucky baby to have a brother that loves you so much!

Month 12

Dear Angus,

You turned one on Sunday.  We had a big party for you.  Lots of people were there to celebrate your 1st year.  This year has been an adventure.  I remember being so worried about having two boys to take care of, but somehow I have managed it.  I don't know how well, but I have managed.

You are one chubby little man who loves to eat.  No need to worry if you'll like certain vegetables, you love just about everything.  Only thing I have watched you spit out are cold meats and cheese.

During your first year you have traveled to California, twice, you have learned to walk, drink from a cup and a straw.  You have 5 teeth now!  You are now beginning to use forks and spoons, although you are not quite sure how to use them, yet.

What you love: seeing the puppies, going outside, climbing on your tricycle, walking to the bathroom to try and stick your hands in the toilet, pulling your brothers hair, eating, standing in fridge...

What I wish you liked to do: sleep all night without crying.  Oh, I can't wait for you to sleep without waking.

Can't wait to see what this year has in store for you.

Love,
Mom

Buddy Boo

Oh, Angus.  What a sweetheart you are.  Always smiling and being happy.  Only time you are not happy is when we put you in your crib.  What a crybaby!  Other than that, smiles all around.

Walking the tricycle

Angus was walking in circles with his little tricycle.

He watches Jonas ride around and tries to lift his little legs up to ride.

Soon, baby, soon!

Month 11

Dear Angus,

You turned 11-months old this month. I can't believe time has passed us by so quickly. I remember you being a tiny little 7-pound baby and now you are a whopping 24 pounder. You are heavy, but I thank you for helping me lose some weight and gain a little muscle in my arms. Much needed muscle.

You are a very beautiful baby always very happy, except at night, of course, I don't know what it is, but you are always mad at night. I have to hold you in front of my face and say, "Angus, get a hold of yourself, man, snap out of it." I don't, but if you understood what I said, maybe I would do that.

You crawl all around the house. Your favorite place to crawl to is the bathroom, where you enjoy sticking your little cherubic hands in the toilet. Gross! I catch you as your hands are about to go in and wash them, and you throw a little tantrum. Brother and I think your tantrums are funny.

You lay yourself down slowly on the carpet and cry when you don't get your way.

The other day, Jonas wanted a drink of water and you were holding your sippy cup. Jonas said, "I want Angus' water," then he tried to grab it from you and you, little Mr., didn't let him get it. You twisted your little body away from him and made sure it did not leave your hands. I thought that was awesome! You are sticking up for yourself. If you could speak, I'm sure you would tell brother to get his own water.

You have a big appetite and will eat just about anything we put in front of you. Someone said, "He just shovels it in." It's funny, 'cause it's true!

I love it when you play with a ball. You pick it up, then throw it, then crawl to it, pick it up, throw, crawl... It's is very sweet!

I almost forgot your biggest accomplishment: YOU ARE WALKING!! The first week of March you were taking a few steps here and there, then one day, you took about six steps, then the next day you walked across the room, just like that!

Jonas says, "Come to brother, come to big brother," as you stare at him, about to take your next step, pondering what to do, then you walk another direction and leave brother with his arms open. Funny stuff!

Love,
Mama

Sink baby!

My little chub, chub loves bathing in the sink. He splashes and tries to drink the water.

Oh, Angus. You are so cute! I love your laugh. It makes me happy every time I hear it. You always have a smile on your face, well, except at night. You wake up crying and angry, don't know why. During the day you are one happy little baby.

You are almost walking. You took three steps today! It was exciting to see. You get a gold medal from mama! I bet you will be walking by next week.
